Our AR-15/Defensive Carbine Series of Courses are designed to get you up to speed on the safe operation, effective use, and maintenance of your chosen defensive carbine. To help manage time and contribute to a better learning experience, this course can be broken down into 5 parts of about 3-4 hours each that will take place over 5 sessions. These parts should be taken sequentially (for exceptions, check with the instructor):
Part I: Introduction - Operation, Outfitting, and Zeroing
Part II: Carbine Shooting Basics
Part III: Reloads & Manipulations
Part IV: Critical Incidents & Cognitive Processing
Part V: Assessing & Advancing Your Skills
Part I: Introduction - Operation, Outfitting, and Zeroing
In this foundational session, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of your carbine's components, function, and setup. Learn how to properly outfit your firearm with accessories that suit your needs and lifestyle. This session also includes instruction on zeroing your optics or iron sights to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Minimum Class size: 4
Class Time: 3-4 Hours
Part II: Carbine Shooting Basics
Building on the introduction, this part focuses on shooting fundamentals. Topics include stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, and recoil management. You’ll also practice engaging targets effectively and consistently, laying the groundwork for more advanced skills.

Class Time: 3-4 Hours
Part III: Reloads & Manipulations
Master the essential techniques for efficient weapon handling. This session covers tactical, speed, and emergency reloads, malfunction clearance, and other manipulations critical to maintaining control of your firearm in dynamic scenarios.

Part IV: Engagements & Cognitive Processing
This phase introduces realistic engagement scenarios, emphasizing decision-making and situational awareness. Learn how to process information quickly and accurately while employing your carbine under stress. Topics include target transitions, movement, and environmental considerations.

Class Time: 3-4 Hours
Part V: Assessing & Advancing Skills
In the final session, you’ll combine all the skills learned throughout the series into practical drills and exercises. This part includes guided practice to enhance your proficiency and advice on continued training to maintain and improve your skills.
By the end of the AR-15/Defensive Carbine Series, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to operate your carbine effectively in defensive situations. This series is ideal for responsible firearm owners seeking to build their capabilities in a structured and supportive learning environment.

Defensive Carbine I
Our AR-15/Defensive Carbine Series of Courses are designed to get you up to speed on the safe operation, effective use, and maintenance of your chosen defensive carbine. Normally, these are taught over a series of 5 3-4 hour sessions. If you are interested in taking larger blocks of instruction, this course is for you. It includes the first 3 parts of our AR series in a single block of training:
Part I: Introduction - Operation, Outfitting, and Zeroing
Part II: Carbine Shooting Basics
Part III: Reloads & Manipulations
Minimum Class size: 4
Class Time: 7-8 Hours
Defensive Carbine II
Includes a refresher on the content of modules 1-3, followed up with content from modules 4 and 5 of our AR series in a single block of training.
Part IV: Critical Incidents & Cognitive Processing
Part V: Assessing & Advancing Your Skills
Minimum Class size: 4
Class Time: 7-8 Hours
